South Chicago Dance Theatre: Dancing Across Generations

South Chicago Dance Theatre’s CoGen project brings teens and older adults together to share family stories and explore movement through dance.

South Chicago Dance Theatre’s Dancing Across Generations project brings teens and older adults together through movement, storytelling, and shared creative work.

Designed for adults ages 65 and older and teens ages 14–18, the project invites participants to explore their family histories and share experiences across generations.

Professional dance artists guide participants as they develop an artistic practice and collaborate on choreography. Each generation contributes its own stories and perspectives, making the creative process an opportunity for mutual learning.

Supported by Innovation 80, Dancing Across Generations illustrates how the arts can create opportunities for people of different ages to connect, express themselves, and make something together.
